Pregnant Pause

Alyssa just exclaimed from the other room, "What! We can't eat chocolate! I am not giving up chocolate. . . . What, are we supposed to give up everything?" She'd read on the Internet that pregnant women were to refrain from chocolate. She kept reading, aloud this time: "'A small piece of chocolate every now and again is fine, but a large box every day could mean calorie trouble'. . . . No kidding," she said, "are you supposed to eat a large box of anything every day regardless of whether you're pregnant?"

She came into the living room, where I'm sitting, and said, "Seriously, they expect us to give up everything!"

"Who's 'they'?" I asked.

"The people!" she said. "The dietician bitches!"
